If you think that you’re not where you want to be in life, then probably there are things in your life holding you back from becoming the person you want to be and achieving your goals.

Most of those things that are holding us back are bad habits; we’re creatures of habits, but when these habits are negative, they can hinder our way to success. Quitting these habits can help you adopt better ones that will lead you to success

Below is a list of bad habits you need to quit in order to become successful:

1. Complaining and blaming circumstances

Successful people don't surrender to their circumstances, instead, they change them. They fully understand that their life is their responsibilities and no one can make it better or worse but themselves.

2. Making excuses

Successful people are busy fighting obstacles and finding different ways to win. They realize that making excuses will prevent them from looking for solutions. They understand that they’re never ready enough to start taking actions and that the best time to do it is Now.

3. Procrastinating

Successful people know that if they didn’t do it now, they’ll probably won’t do it at all. They know first hand that once you start it anyway, you’ll find the motivation to keep going.

4. Expecting good things to just happen

Successful people don’t expect any handouts, they work hard to earn their success. If they ever felt like they deserve a raise, they’ll ask for it.

5. Saying YES to everything

Surely YES can mean more opportunities, but successful people realize that they can only balance so many plates before it all crashes down. So they understand that they have to prioritize things in their life and say NO whenever they felt like they have to.

6. Being afraid to fail

You didn’t fail if you learned something. Winners don’t let the fear of failure hold them from acting on their dreams.

7. Beating yourself over mistakes

We all make mistakes that we regret, but beating yourself over them won’t help you. It's important to learn from one’s mistakes, but don’t make another mistake by being so hard on yourself. If you did something wrong, try to fix it, if you can’t, try to do something good instead.

8. Trying to control everything 

We get frustrated when things don’t go our way and we try hard to change them, seldom do we get to, at least not when it comes to outer factors. Instead, try to be more accepting, it’s okay not to have it always your way, sometimes it turns out much better than what we wanted it to be.

9. Living without goals

Even without intending to, we’re constantly setting goals for ourselves. Even going home after work to chill out and unwind is a goal. And we find ourselves going in the direction of our goals. So set big goals for yourself and keep them in front of you.

10. Being ungrateful 

Gratitude can boost your mood, and increase feelings of happiness and hope. Even when it feels like life isn’t going your way, it still is filled with blessings, being in a good health, having a roof over your head... being grateful can shift your focus and fill your life with positivity. So whenever you felt troubled, take a second to appreciate the blessings in your life.
