7 Principles of Successful People You Can Apply Today

Success is being happy with what you’ve got. Whatever satisfies you, is your success. There are no accomplishments or amount of money that can determine whether or not you’re successful. So determining your desired success is the first step to get there. Below are some principles you need to know about success:

1. Success Is Not an Accident

Success is not a matter of luck. Everything happens for a reason and your circumstances are effects, not causes. The causes are your thoughts and actions. By thinking like successful people and doing what they do, you can then make sure you achieve success too.

2. Your thoughts shape your life

You create your life by the way you’re thinking, so a change in your thoughts can change your life too overnight. It’s not what happens to you that determines the way you feel, but rather what you think of what happens to you that does. Simply put, your outer world is a reflection of your inner world.

3. Your worst beliefs are your self-limiting beliefs

Self-limiting beliefs act like brakes on your potential, you might call it “being realistic”, but really circumstances aren’t what determines your beliefs, but your beliefs are what determine your circumstances. So the only way for you to succeed in life is to challenge your own self-limiting beliefs. Speak to yourself positively even if you don’t quite believe it. With repetition, the idea will sink into your subconscious mind and you’ll believe it, eventually, your life will change and you’ll find it easier to believe and aim higher. Anyway, if someone did it why can’t you do it too?

4. Written goals:

However it might seem like an obvious thing to start off with, less than three percent of adults have written goals and detailed plans to achieve them. A lot of people, on the other hand, have tried writing down their goals and have set this list aside, only to find out a year or a few months later that most of their goals have come true. The thing is writing your goals down makes them sink into your subconscious mind and without you noticing, every action and decision would be oriented toward that goal until it becomes a reality. So grab a pad of paper and a pen and write down the things you want in the present tense as if they were already a reality. “Your subconscious mind only accepts commands that are personal, positive and in the present tense.”

5. Doing something every day

Writing down your goals in detail is an important step to achieve success, but the most important step is to do something every day that will get you closer to that goal.

6. The more control you have over your life, the better you feel about yourself

The more you’re in control of your decisions, actions, and thoughts, the better you feel about yourself and the better you perform. Examine your life for the parts that are causing you the greatest amounts of stress and frustration, usually, those would be the parts of your life that you have little control over. Resolve to do something about it, stop it or get out of it if there’s nothing you can do, whether it’s a relationship, a job...

7. You are completely responsible for everything you are and for everything you become

If we agree on the fact that our lives are exactly the way we see, then it goes without saying that you are what you think you are and you become what you think you’ll become. Therefore you’re completely responsible for the results of your thinking. The best part about accepting your own responsibility is the rewarding feeling of being in control of your life. So take responsibility for your work, act as if you own the place even if you’re not self-employed. Never blame anyone or say “this is not my job”, volunteer for additional work and responsibility.
