To be passionate and exceptionally talented is important, but hard work is even more important. Writing is a learned skill. If you want to write and get some writing done, it isn’t enough to write when you’re inspired to, you need to write even on those times you think you’re least inspired. One won’t know how ready he is until he takes actions and so it goes for writing, you won’t know how inspired you are until you start writing, so in that spirit of motivation, here are some small but effective tips that will help you get some writing done:

1- Set a specific time to write: whether it is in the morning or late at night, set some time for you to write. It isn’t enough to just write when the ideas comes to you, you need to actually write.

2- Find somewhere comfortable to write: be it in the bedroom or in the office. Find somewhere that works for you best to get some writing done, let it be somewhere away from distraction and noise.

3- Keep in mind that you’ll have more ideas when you revise and edit: this is an important way to generate more ideas. So don’t be afraid to write a first bad draft.

4- You’re the most important tool: don’t get too distracted looking for new tools to improve your writing. although writing tools can be of a great help, bear in mind that, people used to write even before papers, typewriters and internet.

5- If you’re stuck, read a good book: it’s the best use of time when you can’t write, for it’s an investment for your writing, you not only will be able generate new ideas, but also learn from others while exposed to their different techniques of writing.

6- Create a deadline: you’ll be amazed at how much, pression can get you to do. It’s ironic, but we seem to get more done when pressed with a deadline way more than when we’re working on our own pace.

7- Write about something you love: it’s important to write about something you can relate to, something out of your experience, something you love and know enough about. This would definitely make the writing process remarkably more enjoyable than when you write about something you can’t relate to.

8- Research about what you’re writing about: it’s important to be well informed about the subject you’re writing about. See what others are contributing regarding that subject and that way you’ll be able to add a value. Don’t start from the zero, start where others had stopped.

9- Be a good reader: before writing, read. It’s important to invest in yourself because that’s all that counts when writing. Reading can effectively expand your mind. It doesn’t matter what you’re reading about, just read.

10- Set some realistic and achievable writing goals: that way you’ll get more motivated to get more writing done.

Whether it was an article, a book that you wanted to write, these tips should help you get your writing done. However, you’ll have to try different ways until you find what works best for you.

Efficiency is important, whether it’s something interesting and important or something that had to be done anyway. However, there’s no single, once -and-for-all solution, you’ll have to try many methods from which you choose what works best for you. Below is a practical technique to help you get things done:

While working, you go with five stages:

- You collect ideas and things
- You process what to do about them
- You organize the results
- You review those results
- Now you do

The main reason why some people fail and get overwhelmed is that they overlook one of those stages. Some people collect ideas without sorting through them, others make good decisions, but never take actions on them because they didn’t organize the results and others set up a good system but don’t review it enough to take action on it.

Collect:

This goes from the things you need to get done, to the ideas that come to you through out your days. For that you need “containers” which serves as collection tools, here are some examples:
1- Physical in-basket: A tray to collect papers, letters, notes…2- Paper note-taking tools: A notebook, legal pads…3- Electronic note-taking tools: Computer, PDAs…
4-
Voice-recording devices: Dictating equipment, voicemail5- E-mail

In order to succeed in the collecting stage you must:
1- Get it all out of your head: keep the collecting tools close by so you can write down any idea or issue on your mind as it comes to you.
2- Have as few collecting tools as you can get by with: it can get overwhelming to have many collecting tools and you’ll find it hard to sort through them later. While this shouldn’t be a problem when it comes to a digital collecting tool, but if you’re relying on paper-based collecting tools, you’ll have to minimize their number.
3- Empty them regularly: Even for the things that you can’t do something about it right now, you’ll need to put them into a system you can review later.

Process:

Sort through the items on your list; it’s whether they’re actionable or not.

If no action is required then you have three possibilities:

1- It’s trash, you no longer need it.
2- No action needed now, but sometimes later you might need to do something about it
3- The item is an information that might be useful later.

If the item is actionable, you have three options:

1- Do it: if it takes less than two minutes, then do itat its definedd moment.

2- Delegate it: If it takes more than two minutes, ask yourself if you’re the right person to do it, if the answer is no, then delegate it.

3- Defer it: If it takes more than two minutes and you’re the right person to do it, then defer it until later in a “next action” list.

Organize:

After processing the items you collected, now organize them into lists:

For nonactionable items you have three possible categories:

- Trash,
- “Incubating tools” for the items that might need action later,
- “References” for the information that might be needed later.

For actionable items, you’ll need a reviewable set of reminders in form of lists.

Review:

Everything that might require action, later on, must be reviewed regularly. A good way to review your organized items is the weekly review method: when reviewing your “system”, you update your lists and get clean, current and complete. It’s the same that you do before going on a vacation, you clean up and close up. Now instead of doing this once a year before your vacation, you do it weekly.

Do:

The purpose of this workflow-management is to ensure you that you’re doing the right action at any given moment. You feel more confident which increases your effectiveness.

Now to help you choose the right action at any given moment, here are four criteria you can apply:

1- Context: some actions require a specific location or a specific tool such as a computer. As you take this into consideration, it will limit your choices of action.

2- Time available: This you consider when you have something else you have to do such as a meeting in five seconds.

3- Energy available: Some actions require a creative mental energy, others require a physical energy and some need very little of both.

4- Priority: Given the context, the time available and the energy available, what action should be your priority now?

1- Wake up early:

And get all your work done as quickly as possible, it's really motivating to get things done! take advantage of your a.m hours!

2- Make new year resolution:

But make one every day instead of every year and treat every day as a new chance, today can be great only if you make it so! and there is a lot you can control. Set down some goals and make a commitment to get it done.

3- Writing down your goals makes a huge difference.

4- What you do today is important cause you are exchanging a day of your life for it:

Make sure you get the best of it while it’s passing by, don't focus on being busy, rather make sure that you're productive often when we face some challenges or problems we try to escape by doing some bad habits, and we tell ourselves that we're tired and that we need some rest. But actually bad habits would consume as much energy as the good ones, it's just our minds that decide to feel tired or not, for example when you have some writing to do and you find yourself distracted by other things online just know that you're escaping from what you have to do, it means that you find writing so hard that you'll keep procrastinating it until you get concentrated, in mood to do it or any other lie you keep telling yourself.

5- Be mindful of your responses:

And if you’re unsatsfied with your outcomes, then change your responses to the events, figure out the results you want to improve and the processes behind them and do something about it.

6- Surround yourself with greatness:

It’s important to choose the people you surround yourself with, because those people are going to either build you up and help you to grow or to put you down.

7- Never wait for the perfect time:

You won't really be in a perfect situation, when you work you'll wish for holiday and the opposite, stop waiting for the perfect conditions, it's really not about being in a perfect situation as much as making it perfect, you take advantage of every situation and make out the best of it, no matter where are you standing, what you're having, use it and make the best of it.

8- Spend more hours working:

Even when you think that you won't be productive, some things doesn't even need productivity, somethings just needs to be done, productive you've been or not!

As long as you're working, you'll be learning and figuring out new ways to do the things you do. You can never say that you finally found the perfect way, there's no perfect way, there's always a better way to do it. Below are some ways to help you improve your ways and be more productive:

1- Practice more:

Do it so much that it becomes something you don't need to think about how to do it. For example, keep writing until you don't need to think about what you're going to write. It's not about how much talented or smart you are, it's about how much you have practiced it.

2- Start with the easiest:

If you want to do your to-do list start with the easiest, it's always much comfortable to have two or three items left than to have nine or ten! I've been told that you need to start with the hardest item, maybe to not lose your energy on the easy stuff, but it did never worked for me.

3- Work even harder:

The harder you work, the luckier you become! make the effort, it wouldn't be wasted, everything pays, sooner or later. We love to work when we feel like it, but if you want to make the success, you got to work when you feel like it and when you don't.

4- Find out your golden hour:

They may tell you that you need to take advantage of your a.m hours, but sometimes night or any other time might be your golden hour when you're most productive.

5- Set goals:

Set goals that you're really excited about, then take action on it. Set your intentions for the week ahead. People who plan, achieve.

6- Give up excuses:

Focus on all the reasons why you must make it happen. Instead of complaining about your circumstances, get busy and create some new ones.

7- Don't compare your progress with that of others:

We all need our own time to travel our own distance. Even the greatest was once a beginner. Don’t be afraid to take that first step.

We human beings, like to get wherever we want to go through the shortest road and the easiest ways with as less pain as possible, therefore, productivity seems to be something important to master, since it means more accomplishments with less efforts. Below are some great simple tips you need to know in order to be more productive:

1- Embrace discomfort:

Routine is good, it's comfortable. Still, you'll have to push yourself to embrace discomfort if you ever wanted to improve and get ahead with your work. Try new ideas and constantly improve your ways. There will be always something to improve.

2- Be aware of procrastination:

Procrastination is the first enemy of productivity, and we often get into it through excuses, like "I'm not fully concentrated now, it would be better if I had a pause and worked later when I'm well rested" or "I'm not comfortable now, too much noise, I don't have much time now...". If you're not getting things done, then it might be a sign that you're probably procrastinating.

3- Eliminate the distraction:

Shut down your phone! Shut people's noise down, get rid of all the destruction and focus on your goals, write down every distraction holding you back from reaching your goals then shut it down, push yourself to get where you want.

4- Generate more ideas:

You're important and your ideas does matter. Any great accomplishment had actually started with a small idea. Keep notes of those small ideas that cross your mind every now and then and reread them later and decide what to invest in and what to develop.

5- Quality vs Quantity:

Nowadays, we seem to have some good quantity of everything which means if you ever wanted to stand out in the crowd, you'll have to provide something of quality that will make the difference. While it would be best if you can assure quality and quantity at the same time, quality should be always a priority.

6- Invest in yourself:

As much as this is about your work, it also about yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you're most likely to be productive, therefore it's quite important to take good care of yourself, of your hygiene and your happiness and your motivation. Keep motivating yourself by following those who made it before, for if they could, then you should!

When we create, we need inspiration, yet, this inspiration wouldn't come by chance, it's a skill that you'll own with practice, you'll learn how to inspire from everything around you and from yourself, so don't wait for the inspiration to come, because it's already here, it's around you and within you, and all that you need to do, is to be aware of it, and to be mindful, you won't see it with your eyes, but with your heart.

It's not about having eyes, it's about having the heart to see things, we see the same picture but since we don't have the same hearts, we won't see it in the same way. We see things differently.

Everything around you, everyone you meet has something to inspire from.

Others can be a great inspiration:

Often the people around you will try to tear you down as hard as they can. They'll try to hold you down with their all, for the sole reason is that they're below you and wouldn't accept anyone who's better, people want you to do good, but never to be better than them.

That doesn't mean that inspiring people don't exist, they do, look for them, don't limit yourself to the people around you, and create you own inspiring world.

Inspire from your own experiences:

Experiences that you had in your life might be a great inspiration, that's why we need to experience more!

Many think that pain is a great source of inspiration, but not really it was just about experiencing, experiences that's true inspiration, no matter if it was painful or not.

Try to work from new places, it may inspire you, staying in nature might be a great inspiration as well...

The first key to success, to a happy life, to the life of your dreams is inspiration. Only when you're inspired that you can find the excitement to do it all.
